The union of visually pleasing form and effective function is a hallmark of Swedish design, and Blueair is no exception. The Blueair 203 SmokeStop is designed for maximum performance in small rooms. Available in silver or white/dark grey, it suits your distinct style of living.

Technology

Blueair's patented HEPASilent™ technology combines the best features of electrostatic and mechanical filter technology to enable the delivery of more clean air at a faster rate with less noise. Phenomenally low power usage minimizes energy consumption. Plus Blueair air purifiers actually reduce the levels of ozone in indoor air.

How it works

blueairhowitworks203.jpg

Air is drawn into the unit via an ultra-quiet fan. Airborne particles pass through an ion chamber and are charged to ensure that they adhere effortlessly to Blueair’s progressive three-stage filter. Cleaned air that is free of impurities is recirculated into the room.

Particle Filter or SmokeStop™ Filter

The Blueair 203 comes with a choice of Particle Filter or SmokeStop™ Filter

Blueair 203 with Particle filter is the ideal choice for allergy sufferers and other health-conscious individuals that need high-efficiency particle removal. The unit contains one polypropylene 3-stage progressive filter that contains millions of ultra-thin fibers with each state trapping progessively smaller harmful particles as they pass through the pleats. The Blueair 3-stage progressive filter effectively removes every type of particulate air pollutants, including allergens, pollen, mold spores, dust, pet dander, bacteria, and viruses.

Blueair's optional SmokeStop filter adds more gas adsorption capability and is recommended for removal of tobacco smoke, and for environments like workshops or workplaces where chemical fumes and gases are present. For people with chemical sensitivities, and those whose asthma or allergies are provoked by strong odors and fumes, the SmokeStop filter provides an even higher level of protection. The SmokeStop filter is a progressive carbon filter with a honeycomb-type structure that improves airflow and has hundreds of odour and gas absorbing carbon pellets. The filter contains 2.0 lbs of coconut shell activated carbon impregnated with a 70/30 blend of Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) and Potassium Iodide (KI). The carbon eliminates volatile organic compounds (VOC), which are responsible for odours.

What Blueair filters remove

Blueair HEPASilent™ filters remove 99.97% of all particles and respiratory pathogens that at 0.1 micron or larger in size from your indoor air, including:

  • Bacteria
  • Dust mites
  • Fungi and mold
  • Pet dander
  • Pollen
  • Smoke
  • Viruses
  • VOCs

Benefits

Zero Ozone Emission – Blueair systems use a very low electrical current to minimize ozone production and a sealed steel housing chamber to keep ozone contained. Testing shows the ozone concentration in our system’s output air is actually lower than in the incoming air.

Easy to Use & Maintain – Plug it in and select the speed setting. Blueair works so quietly, at first you may find yourself wondering if it’s turned on. Blueair filters require no weekly additives or filter washing and the grills and powder-coated steel exterior are easy to wipe clean.

Quality Steel Housing – The Blueair system housing is made of galvanized steel, rather than less durable plastic.

Near Silent Operation – Since air passes easily through Blueair filter media, the fan doesn’t have to work as hard or as loud. Even the housing is designed with quiet operation in mind, replacing sound-sonant plastic with noise-muffling steel.

Low Energy Consumption – Blueair is among the first to earn the energy star designation for air purifiers, a program developed in the United States and sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (epa) and the U.S. Department of Energy. All models exceed energy star’s minimum energy efficiency guidelines.

Award Winning Swedish Design – Its sleek contemporary look has earned Blueair one of the most prestigious design awards in Scandinavia, the Excellent Swedish Design Award.

Performance - Unmatched Clean Air Delivery Rate

CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) was developed by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) in the United States, to help consumers worldwide determine how well an air cleaner reduces airborne pollutants such as tobacco smoke, dust and pollen – by indicating the volume of filtered air delivered. The higher the CADR, the faster the unit filters the air.

cadr.jpg

CADR takes into account:

  • the size of the particle removed
  • what percentage of particles are removed
  • the volume of air actually moving through the system

When the particle size and filter efficiency of any two air cleaners are the same (as they often are), CADR is the key to choosing the more effective system. To ensure accuracy and fairness, CADR testing is performed only through AHAM, an independent industry organization. CADR test results are recognized as accurate and impartial by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Air volume is often described as air exchange (the number of times the total volume of air in the room is processed by the unit within a given period of time). Some manufacturers substitute air exchange rates_ for CADR results, but they are not equivalent. CADR numbers give a much more precise report of an air purifier’s performance. Blueair Air Purifiers have the highest CADR in the industry.

Superior technology - HEPASilent

HEPASilent is a revolutionary combination of advanced filter media and an encapsulated ion particle charging chamber ensures the Blueair air purification system achieves better results than either mechanical or electrostatic technology alone. When running the units on the lowest setting, Blueair’s HEPASilent
™ filtration technology captures 99.97% of all particles down to 0.1 micron in size.

How it works

blueairhowitworks.jpg

  1. Air is drawn into the Blueair system via our ultra-quiet fan.
  2. Airborne particles pass through an ion chamber and are electrically charged. This causes them to adhere effortlessly to our exclusive polypropylene filters.
  3. Charged particles are removed in the gradient structured, progressive filter with the first layers capturing larger particles such as pollen and dust. As the polluted air is drawn further into the filter, even the smallest particles such as cigarette smoke and exhaust are removed. Together, the encapsulated ion chamber and filtration process combine to create Blueair’s patented HEPASilent ™ technology — delivering maximum airflow with minimum noise

Blueair Advanced Filters

Blueair filters resemble having many filters in one. This is a result of the progressive structure of a Blueair filter with millions of ultra thin fibres in different sizes and layers. This design allows Blueair filters to ‘lock in’ particles in different stages. Once captured, the particles are not re-released back into your environment, even when the filter is heavily loaded. The first layers capture larger particles like pollen and dust. Later filter layers capture smaller particles like bacteria and exhaust particles. This unique filter design resists clogging and allows filtration at peak performance levels with high efficiency and longer lasting high airflow. When the filter needs to be replaced (around every six months), just open the lid, take out the old filters and put the new ones in. No screws, hooks or tools are needed. And it is all done in under sixty seconds. An extra bonus is that Blueair filters require no weekly additives or filter washing.

Which Blueair unit is the best for me?

That's simple. It's a matter of room size. Each Blueair model uses HEPASilent™ filtration technology to achieve 99.97% efficiency at 0.1 micron. But filter performance is only part of the picture. Your air purifier must also be able to process the volume of air in the room where it operates. You need only compare the size of your room to the room size capacities listed below.

Our room size recommendations are based on testing by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), an independent industry organization that rates air cleaners for overall performance. Choose the system that matches your room size. All room sizes assume an 8-foot (2.4 meter) ceiling; if your ceilings are higher, choose the system that matches the next larger room size.

Room Size                                Best Blueair System
Up to 65 m2 (698 sq. ft.)           Blueair 603 or Blueair 650E
Up to 56 m2 (605 sq. ft.)           Blueair 503
Up to 34 m2 (365 sq. ft.)           Blueair 403 or Blueair 450E
Up to 22m2 (240sq. ft.)             Blueair 203 or Blueair 270E

All units come equipped with HEPASilent Particle Filters. Optional SmokeStopTM Filters are available for people who smoke or who live with a smoker.
